Blue Red Thread (I Was a Dog)

A solo exhibition that follows the conceptual red (and blue) thread of twenty years of artistic practice.

The project places a minimalist blue wall drawing alongside a sparse selection of works on canvas—both new and archival—while deliberately omitting the majority of the artist’s works. Like a dog—persistent and meekly grateful—Slejko Blom has worked for twenty years with a foolish, canine devotion. The exhibition seeks to break with the past. Its central element is the symbolic power of the blue thread—a motif that interweaves spiritual, cultural, and metaphysical associations. In various traditions, the blue thread recalls origin, ancestry, and lineage, as well as an all-encompassing divine connectedness. At the same time, it evokes courage and encourages wisdom.
Courage is (and was) necessary; wisdom remains a wishful thinking.
