Green for money, green for greed, green for nature, green for green deeds. with Conny Blom |

The Green Drawings – I Pledge (Bergen) is an interactive project that leverages the aesthetics of environmental responsibility to interrogate collective and personal action against climate change. Exhibited in a former bank vault at Kunsthall 3,14 in one of the world’s wealthiest nations, the project trades 160 framed drawings for audience pledges to adopt climate-friendly behaviors. This symbolic exchange reframes environmental responsibility as a debt owed not to the artist but to the planet. Participants leave signed pledges in place of the removed drawings, transforming the installation into a dynamic testament to individual commitments. The project critiques the reliance on market-driven solutions to limit carbon emissions, pointing out the absurdity of tackling a systemic crisis through personal guilt and voluntary action. By situating these pledges within a framework of economic and political accountability, I Pledge (Bergen) questions the roles of governments and industries in perpetuating unsustainable practices. The work urges participants to demand systemic change, challenging the notion that eternal economic growth is compatible with ecological preservation.
